Crate Training 101

3.jpg

Choose the Right Size Crate
Big enough for your puppy to stand, turn, and lie down—but not too large, or they may potty in it.

Make it Positive
Feed meals in the crate, use treats and toys to create a happy, safe space.

Start Slowly
Begin with short sessions (5–10 mins), gradually increase time. Always supervise at first.

Nighttime Routine
Keep the crate in your bedroom at night. Take the puppy out for potty breaks as needed.

Never Use for Punishment
The crate should be a safe, calm place—not a time-out spot.

Stick to a Schedule
Take the puppy out after naps, meals, and play. Praise and reward for pottying outside.

Patience is Key
Crate training takes time and consistency. Keep it positive and calm.
